This collection include a large amount of photographs that were taken before the cruise, particularly during training while the crew of the Kansas was in Cuba.  All of the Atlantic fleet did training in Cuba.  In 1907, training for sailor included living in tents, training in trenches with rifles, using small artillery, and supporting marine landings.
