There were four ships that visited Smyrna, first the Virginia and Louisiana, and later the Ohio and the Missouri. Apparently, Brown or Shiffer was able to "cross-deck" to one of these trips to take photographs. The collection I have might be all of the cards that exist. I have not found any above 821.

The most popular trip while in Smyrna was to visit the ancient Greek city of Ephesus, not far outside the city. It ws built in the 10th century BC and was a port city for the Greeks and then the Romans. As the harbor slowly silted up from the rivers it declined in importance.
