For many of the sailor on the cruise, the transit through the Suez Canal and visit to the pyramids was the highlight of the cruise.  From the photographs that Brown & Shaffer took during this portion of the trip it does not appear that they were part of the group that road the train from Suez.  Instead they went through the canal on their ship taking pictures along the way and visited the pyramids once they got to Cairo.
