The Illinois Class battleship were built between 1896 and 1901 and included the Illinois, Alabama, and Wisconsin, all participating in the 1907 - 1909 cruise around the world. The Alabama participated in the portion from Hampton Roads to San Francisco, and then proceeded separately with USS Maine ahead of the main group of battleships. The Wisconsin joined the 16-battleships in San Francisco and completed the remainder of the cruise. The Illinois completed the entire cruise. They were armed with four 13-inch guns in two twin turrets forward and aft. The secondary battery consisted of 14 - 6 inch guns. These can be seen on port and starboard sides of the ships. The easiest way to identify this class ship is by the pair of boiler funnels that were arranged side-by-side in the middle of the ship.
