M. R. Battey, USS Missouri – South China Sea

This portion of the collection does contain photographs that are hard-to-find in the activities of the fleet's journey, photographs in Manila and photographs of the events planned for sailors in Ueno Park, Tokyo.

This photograph show the pavilion that was created from flags in Manila for the welcoming ceremonies.  There was one postcard made of this pavilion and few images available.

These are views from the ship in Yokohama Bay and of events planned for the sailors in Tokyo at Ueno Park.  Apparently the photographer only got one day of liberty in Japan.  It includes the Japanese battleship Soya that was captured from the Japanese at Chemuplo Bay Korean at the outbreak of the war.
